Beautiful fall weather has made for another wonderful week on the farm. We have especially been enjoying mild early morning conditions, which makes for pleasurable harvests. A brief shower on Thursday afternoon put irrigation needs on hold. The much needed moisture helped perk up cover cropped fields that haven’t seen rain for a few weeks. Cool, wet weather in the forecast this week means we can put our water reel away for the time being. The crew is in full-on harvest mode now. Recent days have been occupied by harvesting fresh vegetables for the share each day and putting away storage crops for winter in whatever time remains. In an effort to maximize fall growth potential of our cover crops, we have been diligently sowing fields to these crops as soon as harvest is finished. We will continue on this harvest/cover cropping schedule for the next month or so.
This week the share will include:
Acorn squash
Arugula
Beets
Bok choi
Broccoli
Carrots
Collards
Daikon radishes
Escarole

Head lettuce
